Created out of necessity

EGMN began as a LULAC newsletter created and produced by University of Houston students to provide community coverage for Hispanics on campus.

The newsletter was in response to a dearth of relevant content for Latinos, whom comprised approximately 30% of the university’s student population, in the official school newspaper.

Three months after its first publication in fall 2008, EGMN became an independent agency that has enjoyed phenomenal success as a nonprofit media organization.
